Photo Of The Week - Marginalis Butterflyfish (Chelmon marginalis)
The Marginalis Butterflyfish is a good substitute to the Copperban Butterflyfish if you are in a budget and looking for something a little more economical but want a similar Butterflyfish. Although the Marginalis doesn't have a middle yellow/copper band and its black dot is not as noticeable as the Copperban. It is beautiful and magnetic as the Copperban due to its bright colors and size. It can grow up to 7 inches in length so it will need as a minimum a 100 gallon aquarium. It is of moderate temperament and can live with other peaceful fishes of the same size. Exercise caution when adding to a reef aquarium for they are known to feed off soft coral and other small inverts. To maintain it in optimal health targeted feedings consisting of bloodworms or brine shrimp may be required at first, but once acclimated feed it a variety of meaty frozen foods.
