Photo OF The Week - Cherry Anthias (Sacura margaritacea)
This Cherry Anthias is one of the several different fishes we currently have from Japan. This is an unique fish bound to impress. However, its price and husbandry requirements does not make it ideal for beginner hobbyists. It is a hardy fish and can do well if the right steps are taken when adding to its new home. Take care when acclimating and be sure to keep aquarium lights off to reduce stress. It is a fish that grow up to 6 inches in length, so it will require a large tank. Also, we can't stress enough the importance of making sure it is added to established aquariums with optimal water parameters. This is not a fussy eater and will accept a variety of meaty frozen or dry foods.
