Bob's Picks

Hopefully everyone celebrated a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving Holiday and is ready for the frantic rush of the holiday season. This is a great time of year to be selling aquariums and one of the best ways to bring new entrants into the hobby is with nano aquariums. They are small, easy to set up, and generally require a lot less maintenance than larger aquariums. If you dont already have one set up in your store, I cant overstate how important it is to have one on display stocked with interesting fish and coral. They just sell themselves, and it is a great way to suggest livestock ideas at the counter.; everyone who buys anything stares right at it.

There are a plethora of nano tanks available and QM has an even broader variety of animals that are perfectly suited for these smaller dwellings. From small oddball Trimma gobies, to Sexy Shrimp, to little Percula clownfish, weve got what you need to spark that interest. In addition, weve got deep inventory of most of our in-house produced coral frags and maricultured species. Not only are the smaller sizes of these corals well suited to a nano aquarium, 1% of every sale of aquacultured or maricultured species is donated back to reef restoration and/or aquaculture projects via the Reefhab Program. As one of the leading suppliers of marine aquarium livestock, we feel it is our responsibility to enhance consumer awareness whenever we can, and lead by example when it comes to supporting as many of these projects as possible. In the end, it is our intrigue and love for the ocean that attracts most people to this hobby and we should all do what we can to preserve it for future generations.

This week we received a batch of the Candycane Wrasse (Anampses femininus) and they look awesome. These are truly a sight to behold and they came in great.

Another super item this week is the Laboutes Fairy Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus laboutei). This is another vividly colored fairy wrasse that would do great in most reef aquariums be sure to check them out.

We have got an amazing selection of Passer Angels (Holacanthus passer) in from the Eastern Pacific. They are in fantastic health, and available in just about any size you can think of; from that 3-4 inch range right up to 10 inches plus. We are sure to have one to fit your needs.

On the invert side of things there are some very nice Squamosa Clams (Tridacna squamosa) here right now. From medium up to XL, and showing some pretty vivid colorations. These should not be overlooked.

For the Chalice lovers out there, we have a very limited supply of large and xtra large Green Eyed Elephant Nose Chalice (Mycedium elephantotus). There is XL specimen in particular that will not be here for long.
