Bob's Picks

Its always exciting whenever we find our animals thriving and this past week was no exception. In our new dedicated snail system, we witnessed several spawning events and confirmed a viable spawn in house. As we document all events as they happen here at QM, we aim to accumulate enough information that hopefully will contribute to the successful rearing of these gastropods artificially some day.

I have to give credit to our husbandry staff when they can get fish to practically eat out of your hand during their short stays here. We've got a lot of these fish right now, particularly some beautiful adult Imperator Angels (Pomacanthus imperator). These ever popular fish came from our Short Supply Chain in the Maldives. One of my favorite fish because they practically remind me of a puppy dog in how they beg and engage with you when they are hungry.

From our SSC in Tonga we have in a very limited number of Richardsons Reef Chromis (Pomachromis richardsoni). Very similar to a Vanderbilt Chromis in temperament, they have an unusual color pattern that should appeal to the person looking for an out of the ordinary Chromis-type damsel.

As hurricane season starts to edge into full swing, our SSC in the Florida Keys came across a top notch shipment of Yellowhead Jawfish (Opistognathus aurifrons). Take advantage of this Added Value Special before the water conditions make these next to impossible to collect.

Another great score from our SSC in Tonga are the aquacultured Fluted Giant Squamosa Clams (Tridacna squamosa). Since these are an aquacultured item the quality and size are very consistent and they have great coloration.

Our SSC MAC Certified collector in Fiji keeps coming through with some great corals every week. From SPS to LPS to Softies they always send over an eye-popping assortment. So be sure to have your Customer Service Representative steer you in the right direction.
