Black Sailfin Blenny Changes
The two different species of blennies under the name "BLACK SAILFIN" have been separated. The more regular Atrosalarias fuscus commonly known as black sailfin or black highfin, will keep the old name BLACK SAILFIN and the old number. A new name and number has been created for Escenius namiyei. This fish will be called BLACK COMBTOOTH, it is also commonly known as Namiyei's blenny. Both of these fish are also commonly available as MAC Certified.
The demeanor of the Black Combtooth is closest to the Midas blenny. At first they can be a reclusive fish, but they get bolder as they adjust to their new surroundings. They primarily feed on plankton suspended in the water column and will readily accept most prepared frozen foods. (The Black Sailfin is pictured above right and the Black Combtooth is below right)
