Photo Of The Week - Atlantic Pygmy Octopus (Octopus joubini)
It's been a while since we displayed a cool member of the Octopodidae family, so without further ado here is the Pygmy Atlantic Octopus. Also known as the Small-Egg Caribbean Pygmy Octopus, it is one of the smallest octopuses of its species that can measure up to 5 inches in length. They are known escape artists. So be sure there are no openings and the lid is latched closed. Like other octopuses, they prefer to hide and blend in, provide plenty of hiding places. Octopuses can get easily bored and need enrichment, try hiding their food or give them toys to play with. To maintain it in optimal health make sure to feed them a variety of small crustaceans. We currently have several of them in stock, so call your sales representative now.
