Quality Marine is looking for a talented and motivated individual to fill a newly available position in our Animal Care and Husbandry team. If you have experience caring for aquariums and have a passion to pursue a career in the aquarium field, there are few opportunities like this that expose you to such a large variety of marine life, where applying the right level of care makes a difference for hundreds of thousands of animals.

Summary
The marine husbandry aquarist is responsible for the health and well being of all fishes, invertebrates, and plants in the facility. These duties include but are not limited to: distributing feeds to marine fishes and invertebrates, water quality sampling and testing, tank cleaning, inventory control, and recognition and treatment of diseases.


Responsibilities and Duties
  • Work closely with marine aquarist team to assess livestock quality and identify problems with animals
  • Apply a thorough understanding of biology so to best prioritize and perform husbandry tasks
  • Perform daily water quality and testing
  • Maintain optimum system parameters
  • Clean tanks, systems, and work areas as required to maintain optimum health of the livestock
  • Enter written data electronically into the company database
  • Perform several fish and invertebrate health inspections daily
  • Isolate and administer treatments to animals as needed
  • Prepare and distribute feeds to livestock daily
  • Make holding space in systems for arriving coral and clam shipments
  • Propagate corals
  • Count and adjust inventory as required


Qualifications/Requirements
  • BA/BS in Marine Biology, Aquaculture, other Biology related field, or equivalent experience (preferred but not required)
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize responsibilities, work under pressure, meet deadlines and be able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Weekend and Holiday work required


Physical Requirements
  • Standing for more than 7 hours per day
  • Able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs
