New to Quality Marine, from our exclusive MAC vendor in Fiji, is the Yellow Back Wrasse: Stethojulis balteata. These interesting fish should be housed in established reef systems. Their care is very much the same as leopard wrasses as they typically require a diet of live zooplankton. Brine shrimp and live mysid may be necessary to initiate a feeding response. Eventually they may be able to be trained to eat frozen foods. They are known to be coral safe, but may pick on smaller invertebrates such as snails, crabs, and starfish.
To the above right is a picture of one of the females. Males typically display a more prominent yellow streak on their back just below the dorsal rays.
