Photo of the Week - Selene oerstedti

Moonfish Lookdowns (Selene oerstedti) can be found in the Eastern Pacific ocean, from the Baja down to Columbia. They are usually found in shallow coastal waters where they form small schools. In the wild they usually eat small fish and crustaceans; we have good luck feeding the live foods like feeder shrimp to start with. They quickly transition to small frozen foods like silversides.

They grow quickly, and reproduce at early ages. They are also sold as a food fish throughout their natural range.
