Sander Limewood Airstones should be used to yield the proper tiny diameter size bubbles required for effective protein skimming. The appearance of larger sized bubbles indicate the need to replace your Limewood Airstones. Larger bubbles yield less contact time because they are not influenced as much by fluid friction and will rise faster in the contact chamber. Larger bubbles also results in reduced total surface area of the bubbles available to the organic materials in the contact chamber. To maximize the life of your airstones, do not allow them to soak in water when they are not in use.
